A pandemic's impact on my life

We all have been affected by the current Covid-19 pandemic. However, the impact of the pandemic and its consequences are felt differently depending on our status as individuals and members of society. Our different social identities and the social groups we belong to determine our inclusion within society and, by extension our vulnerability.

At the beginning of quarantine, as the world slowed down, I could finally take some time to relax, watch some movies, and be more active in my extracurricular. I have a lot of things to be thankful for. I especially appreciate that I'm able to live in a comfortable house and have gotten the opportunity to spend more time with my family. Although there are still a lot of things to be thankful for, stress has slowly taken over, and work has been overwhelming. I've always been a person who usually enjoys going to classes, taking more work than I have to, and being active in general. But then I've felt swamped with the amount of work given, to the point that my days have blurred into the online assignment, zoom, classes, and countless meetings. And the effects of the pandemic on the world economy as well as how people function in society. Without a doubt, the pandemic caused me difficulties affecting my lifestyle, school and I interact with others. Overall, life during these times can be extremely overwhelming and stressful, especially in terms of school for me. Online classes don't provide the same environment and interactions as in-person classes and are by far not as enjoyable. But at the end of the day, I know that there is always something to be thankful for in every circumstance.

What I do to cope is by making time to unwind to try some other activities. Taking care of myself. Connect with others and know that it is okay to feel how you are feeling because it is normal during this crazy time to experience feelings of sadness, anger, frustration, anxiety, or all of the above. And sometimes talking to a trusted person, a friend or family member, is a good and easy way to feel better. You can keep a diary. When we share what's bothering us with someone, it is more likely we will feel relieved and better understand the situation we are in and the feeling that come with it. And lastly, talking to God.
